The organisation - The Technical University of Munich maintains a position as one of the top-ranking Universities in Germany and has been named an 'elite university' by the German Government. TUMs 12 faculties span across the disciplines of engineering and applied sciences as well as medicine, biology, economics and education. The Chair and Institute for Biological Imaging (CBI) acts as a highly interdisciplinary institute with a focus on the development of novel imaging techniques and strategies for addressing open questions in basic research, pre-clinical research, drug discovery and clinical applications.

Professor Vasilis Ntziachristos is a professor at the CBI and the director of the Institute for Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI). He will be bringing to the project over 18 years' worth of experience in the development of imaging and hybrid systems and considerable expertise in the clinical translation of molecular fluorescence technologies.
